What changes between PlayStation 4 and 5?

Sony's new console is set to be released on November 19th here in Brazil and we can already find some PS5 games for sale on Amazon BR. But what has changed in the 7 years between the launch of the PS4 and its younger brother? Let's find out!

Much more powerful GPU

The PlayStation 5's graphics processing is almost 10x superior to the PlayStation 4's, with 10.28 Teraflops versus the older brother's 1.84. Despite so much performance, the Xbox Series X, Microsoft's attempt to rebalance the console battle, has a slight advantage over Sony's model with 12 Teraflops of the same RDNA2 technology.

The PS5 also features Ray Tracing technology, which provides an even greater performance boost. By creating more realistic lighting and shadows, the visual experience creates an immersive and realistic experience.

The technology requires powerful hardware to be used successfully and therefore was not developed for the previous generation of consoles.

Ryzen's entry into consoles

The PlayStation 5 comes with a version of AMD's already famous Ryzen processors, replacing the Jaguar line. The Ryzen Zen 2 comes with 8 cores and a frequency of 3.5GHz, while the PS4 also arrived with 8 cores but at a frequency of 1.6GHz.

With the evolution, loading times should be faster and the big beneficiaries should be open world games, further improving the experience when moving around the map.

GDDR6 is here

The PlayStation 5 is a clear leap in technology from the previous generation. The previous generation came with a very fast memory for the time, with 8GB of GDDR5 standard, now the younger sibling comes with 16GB of GDDR6 bringing even greater speed.

HDD never again?

With SSDs taking over the market and becoming even more affordable, Sony's console will also feature the technology, with 825GB of storage. The PS5 arrives with greater performance and capacity than the PS4, which arrives with a 500GB HDD.

Despite the larger capacity, we can also expect heavier games in the new generation and external storage is becoming a necessity.

Beyond the vibration

The new DualSense is the replacement for the Dualshock in the PlayStation line, the controller will adapt to the user's experience during games due to an even greater sensitivity to touch. Increasing immersion.

The PS5 also has 4K video output at up to 120hz if you have a monitor with that graphics capability.
