Matthew Smith, known as Matt Smith, is a British actor. He made his debut as an actor in the adaptation of Twelve Angry Men before joining the National Youth Theatre in London, where he performed his very first theatre roles in Murder in the Cathedral And The Master and MargaritaIn 2006, he landed his first television role: he would play Jim Taylor in the BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman's books, The Curse of the Ruby And The Mystery of the Polar StarHis career took off, and in January 2009 he was selected to play the 11th Doctor in the British television series Doctor Who ; he therefore joins seasons 5, 6 and 7.
